Privacy Policy
Last updated August 8, 2026
This policy explains what Dayvane collects, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: your data is yours, it is scoped to your account, and it is never sold.
1. What we collect
We collect only what the app needs to work:
- Account details: your email address and the name you give at sign-up, held in Amazon Cognito.
- Content you create: habits, habit completions, tasks, goals, categories, journal entries, and coach conversations.
- Preferences: settings such as your display name and whether you opted into the daily digest email.
- Local settings: filter, sort, and layout choices stored in your browser, plus a cached copy of your data so screens load instantly.
2. What we do not collect
We do not collect payment details, and we do not run third-party advertising or cross-site tracking.
3. How your data is used
Your data is used to operate the app: showing your day, calculating streaks and scores, producing analytics and reports, and — if you use the AI Coach — generating insights from your own history.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use your content to train machine learning models.
4. Where your data lives
The app runs on Amazon Web Services. Authentication is handled by Amazon Cognito and your content is stored in Amazon DynamoDB, behind per-user authorization rules so each record is readable only by the account that created it.
Requests to the AI Coach are processed by Anthropic’s API to generate a response. Coach requests are not used to train models.
5. Email
If you opt into the daily digest, we send a summary of your day to your registered address. You can turn it off at any time in Settings, and we do not send marketing email you did not ask for.
6. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by the AWS services we use. Access to your records is scoped to your signed-in account. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
7. Your choices
You stay in control of your data:
- Edit or delete any habit, task, goal, or journal entry at any time.
- Export your data from the Reports page.
- Delete your account from Settings, which removes your credentials and your stored content.
- Clear the local cache by signing out, which removes the copy held in your browser.
8. Data retention
We keep your content for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your records and sign-in credentials are removed. Backups and operational logs may retain some information for a limited period before being overwritten.
9. Children
Dayvane is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
10. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be highlighted in the app.
11. Contact
For privacy questions or data requests, write to the contact address listed on our website.
